UEL stands for Unequal Length and means, in comparison to an EL (EqualLength) manifold, that the exhaust paths are of different lengths, which leads to an engine sound that is generally known as "boxer rumble". This is simply because the different lengths of the exhaust pipes at this point mean that the exhaust gases come out of the exhaust slightly delayed, thus creating a reverberation effect. With a UEL manifold like this, even a FA20 finally sounds like a Subaru boxer engine. Unfortunately, this effect also costs you minimal power compared to the EL manifold, because the exhaust gas flow is not perfect. For this reason, we also offer the "EL" version of the manifold on request for the performance junkies among you.

In general, we recommend carrying out a software adjustment after installing the manifold in order to 1. exploit the full performance potential and 2. deprogram the annoying lambda sensor error.

Which unfortunately brings us to the last point of contention with this product. By installing this manifold, you no longer need your pre-catalyst from the standard manifold. This gives you more sound and power and allows you to burn the main cat free more quickly, but unfortunately it also means that this is a pure racing item. And that means it is not approved under the StZVO and may not be driven on the road . There is also no emissions certificate, no papers and no individual approval for this manifold.

The only thing that is better than the workmanship is the sound you get when you install this manifold. Your exhaust emissions shouldn't be affected too much as long as the main catalytic converter is still in perfect working order.
